In the year 2018 Archimandrite Constantine MBonabingi was chosen by the three Traditional churches of Uganda I.e. Roman catholic, The Anglican and the Orthodox church to be executive secretary of Ugandan Joint Christian council which is an affiliate of world council of churches (WCC), All Africa Conference of churches (AACC), Fellowship of Christian council and churches of the great lake, and Horn of Africa (FECCLAHA)
One of the activities Uganda joint Christian council does is to take care of the refugees, by providing psychosocial and humanitarian support.
During this process of doing this work Archimandrite Constantine mbonabingi went as far as taking care of some of the refugees from South Sudan and also some internally displaced people within that country as can be seen from the attached photo gallery.
In 2022 MS Makarina Ametchtenberg who is the spiritual daughter of Archmandrite Constantine told him of someone by the name Dr Charles Linderman an orthodox staying in Juba. This Dr has an Hospital and a Orthodox chapel but no orthodox priest, so you can always pray from there when you are in juba south Sudan she said.
Through Mr. Joel the husband to Makrina, then Dr Charles was connected to the Archimandrite Constantine mbonabingi. And the two started corresponding.
In the year 2023 Dr Charles started providing plane tickets for Archimandrite Constantine to come to juba once in a while and celebrate the liturgy. With the blessing of metropolitan Jeronymos of Kampala and Bishop Nektarios of Gulu who was responsible for South Sudan.
The Archimandrite Constantine started working in Juba and beyond All the pastoral activities were sponsored by Dr Charles Linderman and up to date he is the one housing the bishop all the clergy.
Most of the activities being done in juba are:
- Catechizing and Baptizing Christians who are joining orthodox
- Hospital ministry
- Support for orphans and venerable children
- Spiritual visit to some refugees
So far the church has some youth who have joined St Makarios theological seminary, she has also more youths who are being trained to become catechists.
