Pastoral work in Wau & the condition of the Church
As mentioned above, the only Orthodox Community with a permanent Church Building is Wau. The Church in Wau is still in good condition only that the Iron sheets near the doom need to replaced because they are old and leaking as you can see from the photos below.
The Bishop/ priest’s house is in a sorry state. The whole of it is leaking, the rooms and the walls are have been destroyed by the rain. No windows, Doors and the inside toilets are completely destroyed. The whole House needs total renovation. From the photos below, you can see the condition of the House.
Regarding the renovation of the church and the Bishop’s house, the district engineers made an estimate of twenty-three thousand four hundred thirty Dollars (23,430 $) to complete them.
Regarding the number of Orthodox Faithful in Wau, we have more Orthodox Christians there. There are more than five Families which still have committed Orthodox Christians. Other Christians will come back incase we put a priest there after renovation of the place .
